The Hotel Plaza Athenee in New York is a bastion of Old World charm, highest hospitality standards and hotel history on the Upper East Side. Unfortunately, the food and beverage operations were not financially productive and leadership was looking for ways to improve the situation.
HPI started with a fundamentals assessment of the bar, restaurant and additional food and beverage departments. We identified a list of suitable concepts and operators that fit the hotel’s brand, clientele and local market for inclusion in a possible RFP process. Additionally, we developed a midterm strategy to create charming, noteworthy experiences. The goals were to drive exterior guest traffic and garner exposure to the bar and restaurant, and drive the brand of the hotel forward—all while remaining cost neutral between the investment and projected financial results.
HPI presented a concept, alongside a project budget and timeline, to appeal to the local community, create energy and visibility, improve financial performance, and help drive the hotel’s luxurious brand forward.
